The two 2023 series called The Diplomat are a good reminder that title and year can still leave a choice unresolved. Look at the lead actor and the setting: a US ambassador in the UK is a different story from a British consulate in Barcelona. The comparisons below keep both records visible rather than selecting one silently.
A new adaptation deserves its own entry
Ghosts, The Killing and The Bridge have television versions from different countries. The Italian Job and The Guilty have film versions with different casts. An adaptation is not just a translated title or a higher-resolution file. Save the production you intended, and use the original language or cast to distinguish it from its counterpart.
Format changes the commitment
One Day and Twelve Monkeys also cross between film and television. You may want a self-contained movie tonight and leave the longer series for later.
